Since the start of 2019, the team at Team Websites HQ have been working really hard to add new features and improve the functionality of your club website. Here’s a few updates on progress…
New Feature: Fixture Poster Generator
Upon the turn of the New Year, we added a cool new feature in our Fixture Poster Generator.
The new feature can be found under the Team Tools section of your admin panel, allowing you to select from a list of matches that you have added to your site. Once you have selected a match, our system generates a poster graphic which you can then save and share to your club’s social media.
Fixtures & Results page layout
The dropdowns allowing you to filter by team and season have been fixed. Teams and seasons should now display in the correct order and load fixtures for the current season (or first listed) upon the page being loaded.
The individual match pages have also received some TLC. The map/directions feature was also fixed in early February.
Staff Contacts page layout
The new page layout displays a list of your club’s staff, including team managers, committee members and other volunteers within your club. It displays their role and team(s) accordingly – this is especially useful for coaches who manage multiple teams.
At the click of a button, you can then message a specific staff member via a dedicated contact form.
Since the start of the year we understand that some of our users may have experienced some issues with their websites going down and being inaccessible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and have since been working closely with our hosting company to minimise downtime.
We encountered a few issues and have invested significantly into upgrading the web server infrastructure on which our club websites are hosted on. Moving forward, we have been reassured that there should be no further issues.
Homepage Image Slider
You asked and we delivered! We have added the option to customise the text and images that appear in your homepage’s slider, instead of the news articles which display by default.
This is the latest feature we have been working on. Each team should now have their own page (which won’t necessarily appear in your header navigation menu by default), displaying a list of matches and a grid of players. There is also a dropdown to filter the matches and players by season.
Making the set-up of your website easier than ever before, this replaces the old shortcode functionality and should be generated automatically whenever you add a new team/squad.
One of the issues highlighted by some of our users has been the speed and performance of our club websites. Upon testing this, we have reduced the page loading time from 5.7 to 3.6 seconds. This is still a work in progress and may fluctuate from time to time.
In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of our Free plan, we have introduced another long-term revenue stream by reactivating the adverts on our Free club websites. Our paid clubs will not be affected by this change.
The adverts will be delivered by Google and should only show ads appropriate to all audiences – this fits with our commitment to safeguarding.
The progress we have made has been overwhelmingly positive. We couldn’t do it without the feedback and continued support of our clubs.
Recently we have been in talks with a couple of County FA’s to discuss partnerships and how we can better serve their clubs. These talks are ongoing but we hope to provide a further update soon.
Thanks for being part of our team. Long may it continue!
