The co-founders of Team Websites, Nick Brown and Morgan McLellan, would like to wish all grassroots clubs a great festive break, whilst also providing an update on plans for the year ahead.
2017 has been, for the most part, a hectically busy year for both of us. For Team Websites, the past year has been a rollercoaster of a ride and a challenge which we embrace on an ongoing basis.
Firstly, conducting online meetings with a couple of County Football Associations saw an exchange of positive words and plans for the future. With our club website product purposely built for grassroots clubs, this factor was recognised in the decision making of one particular County FA. As we prepare for what 2018 may have in store, we are very excited, while also keeping tight lipped, about the announcement of our first County FA partnership. We have built an excellent working relationship with this County, who recognise our website product as “flexible, easy to use and very responsive”. With enhanced safeguarding features recommended by our new partnering County, their member clubs will be able to enjoy exclusively discounted rates off our paid website subscriptions. With this in mind, keep your eyes glued to your screens over the coming couple of weeks for the big announcement.
In August we embraced change by introducing the first phase of our rebranding. After carefully considering various designs, we started with a brand new logo, involving the iconic symbol of a shirt worn by all participants across all sports. The simplistic design allowed for a minified version to be produced and act as our logo across the different social media platforms. The final phase of our rebranding came about with the production of a revitalised website; clearer to navigate and improved responsiveness across devices.
In September, we released the new templates across our club website network. Looking more professional and elegant, with all the need-to-know information available at the click of a button, we received exceedingly positive feedback regarding user-friendliness, customisation and integration with various social media platforms.
Just a month later, we finished another new feature. Visual Match Lineup automatically outputs the selected starting eleven players of a match, as a professional pitch graphic, just like the pre-match graphics you see on television. Our system then gives you the option to save it as a picture to then potentially post on social media. At the same time, we tweaked the appearance of the Club News sidebar widget, also allowing the user to optionally toggle the display of each article’s date.
At the time of writing this, our developer Morgan has just completed a new Club Events page. Displaying all upcoming club events and each teams’ matches, all on one page, you can keep members and players up-to-date with forthcoming meetings and socials – prompting date and time, plus providing the opportunity to publish any other relevant details like location and directions.
So far, we have covered various topics, both in terms of building stronger branding and new features for our team websites. Following the release of a revised version of our main website, the launch of an all-new Grassroots Football Blog came about, delivering a platform for grassroots volunteers, coaches and referees to voice their opinions. In the New Year, we hope to collate more blog post contributions from the grassroots community, providing more opinion and views, accounts of memories and experiences to a last a lifetime, plus tips and guidance. To submit an article, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are proud to provide an affordable, fully customisable and easy-to-use website product to grassroots clubs. While providing a Free package, our Paid subscription service allows us to reinvest when required.
While it remains our aim to build a mobile app that would integrate with our website platform, we wish to grow the web-based version further, first and foremost, in 2018. Focussing our efforts on building new features, and collating requests from our loyal users, plus the pending announcement of a partnership with a County FA, we are really excited about what 2018 may bring.
We would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy the festive break.
Yours In Sport,
Nick Brown and Morgan McLellan
